The Belisha Foundation Secures Registration in Ethiopia: Key Discussions Held at Ghion Hotel
The Belisha Foundation achieved a significant milestone by securing its official registration in Ethiopia. To discuss the progress and the way forward, the Ethiopian team held a productive meeting at Ghion Hotel, Addis Ababa, on October 1, 2024. The session focused on reviewing recent accomplishments, outlining future tasks, and planning next steps for the Foundation’s operations in the country.
During the meeting, the team presented a detailed progress report, highlighting the completion of key activities, including the submission of the project proposal, official registration, and preparation of the Foundation’s annual plan. The team emphasized the importance of aligning the annual plan with ACSO (Agency for Civil Society Organizations) regulations and learning from the budgeting practices of other successful organizations. A discussion was also held on scheduling a future session to clarify ACSO rules and review the Foundation’s bylaws, which was identified as an immediate priority for the Board of Directors.
Key administrative tasks were outlined as part of the next phase, including office space rental, acquiring a letter from ACSO for bank account setup, receipt printing, and stamp preparation. Additionally, the recruitment of additional staff was discussed, with directives to post vacancies and hire qualified personnel. The team agreed on the importance of everyone contributing during this early phase until the office is fully established and operational.
The meeting also covered the preparation of an upcoming report that would summarize the Foundation’s achievements to date and outline future plans. This report will be submitted as soon as possible, capturing both the activities already completed and the strategic initiatives planned for the coming months.
As the Foundation moves forward, discussions centered on focusing on key administrative matters, developing partnerships, selecting beneficiaries, organizing a launch event, and completing necessary documentation. These activities were identified as critical for the smooth start of the Foundation’s operations in Ethiopia.
The meeting was a step forward in solidifying The Belisha Foundation’s presence in Ethiopia, paving the way for impactful work in supporting individuals and families affected by cancer.
