
The Belisha Foundation Officially Launched in Ethiopia

The Belisha Foundation officially launched its Ethiopia chapter in a powerful and emotional ceremony held on April 26, 2025, at the Inter Luxury Hotel in Addis Ababa. The event brought together community leaders, government representatives, health professionals, donors, and international partners, marking a milestone in the Foundation’s mission to fight cancer and support vulnerable patients and families.











The launching event featured a heartfelt keynote address by Mr. Abebe Seifu, Founder & CEO of The Belisha Foundation USA, who shared his personal journey as the husband of the late Belisha and his deep commitment to bringing comfort, dignity, and support to those affected by cancer.
The ceremony was further elevated by profound and inspiring speeches delivered by distinguished guests, including Mr. Lelisa Amanuel, Advisor to the Minister of Health; Memihir Daniel Seife Michael, a respected spiritual leader; Professor Mahiteme Bekele, and notable artists who expressed solidarity with the Foundation’s mission. The event also featured a panel discussion hosted by healthcare professionals from various hospitals, highlighting the current landscape of cancer care in Ethiopia and the urgent need for coordinated efforts.
Dr. Mulatu Mebrate, Board Chair of The Belisha Foundation Ethiopia, opened the event by acknowledging the urgent need for sustainable cancer care solutions and commending the collaborative spirit of the Belisha teams in the U.S. and Ethiopia.
In addition to the program highlights, attendees witnessed the signing of key partnership agreements, including an MOU with eTech S.C., a tech and sports organization that pledged to support the Foundation’s efforts through innovation and outreach.
This historic event was more than a formal launch — it was a collective declaration of hope, resilience, and a united vision for improving the lives of those affected by cancer across Ethiopia.
