The Belisha Foundation Youth Team Inspired at the African Impact Awards
October 11, 2026 | Virginia, USA
The Belisha Foundation was proud to attend the African Impact Awards, hosted by Nova Connection, alongside members of our Youth Team for an evening of inspiration, recognition, and community connection.
The event provided a valuable learning experience for our young participants, allowing them to meet distinguished honorees and guests, take photographs, hear inspiring stories, and gain insight into the journeys of people who have made meaningful contributions across different fields.

Among the distinguished honorees were Professor Donald Johanson, internationally renowned for the discovery of the early human ancestor fossil Lucy, known in Ethiopia as Dinknesh; Paul Tergat, celebrated Kenyan long-distance runner and Olympic medalist; Alemtsehay Wedajo, recognized for her contributions to arts, culture, and humanitarian causes; and Makda Assefa, a media business leader associated with the development of EBS Television. Ethiopian athletic legends Tirunesh Dibaba and Sileshi Sihine also participated in the celebration and presented awards.
For The Belisha Foundation, bringing young people to events like this is an important investment in their future. We want our youth to understand that leadership is not simply about holding a title—it is about service, compassion, responsibility, and the courage to make a positive difference.
By creating opportunities for young people to connect with accomplished individuals and community leaders, we hope to broaden their perspectives, strengthen their confidence, and inspire them to become active contributors to their communities. Through the Foundation’s Youth Team, we aim to encourage volunteerism, community service, leadership development, and a lasting commitment to causes that matter.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Nova Connection for hosting the African Impact Awards and creating an environment where the next generation could learn from inspiring examples of achievement and service.
The Belisha Foundation remains committed to empowering young people to lead with compassion, serve with purpose, and help build a stronger, more caring community.
