The Belisha Foundation Participates in the Prestigious African Impact Award
On Sunday, October 13, 2024, The Belisha Foundation had the great honor of participating in the highly esteemed African Impact Award ceremony, held at the Metro Points Hotel in New Carrollton, MD. The evening was a grand celebration of achievement and excellence, showcasing the inspiring contributions of honorees who have left a lasting impact on both their communities in the United States and their home continent of Africa.
This year’s honorees included some of the most recognized and influential figures in their respective fields: legendary singer Aster Aweke, media personality Meaza Biru, and Ethiopian Olympic champions Tigist Assefa and Gudaf Tsegay, as well as writer and activist Rebecca Haile. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of pride and admiration, as the African diaspora came together to celebrate these outstanding individuals.
The event was further enriched by live charity music performances from Rahel Getu, accompanied by the Selamino. Senators, mayors, and delegates from across the region were in attendance, underscoring the significance of the African Impact Award as a platform for recognizing excellence and service within the community.
The Impact Award is an annual event organized by Nova Connection to highlight the extraordinary accomplishments of individuals who have devoted themselves to serving their communities. Each year, nominees from the fields of sports, arts, and entrepreneurship are honored for their outstanding contributions to both the African diaspora and their home countries.
The Belisha Foundation was privileged to be part of this remarkable occasion. A special moment was reserved during the event, allowing us to showcase a two-minute video highlighting our mission and work in the fight against cancer. Additionally, our Founder and CEO was invited to give a speech, further amplifying the importance of our cause and the efforts we are making in both the U.S. and Ethiopia.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Nova Connection for providing us with this invaluable opportunity to share our story and mission with such a distinguished audience. This event serves as a reminder that there is much more work to be done, and we are inspired to push forward in our efforts to make a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer in the years to come, both here in the United States and in Ethiopia.
The African Impact Award was not only a celebration of achievement but also a call to action, motivating The Belisha Foundation to continue its work with renewed dedication and purpose. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible, and we look forward to contributing even more in the future!
